Circle Dance with Karoline
Welcome

Here you can find some interesting links to other Circle Dance websites and of course all about my own events in Worthing and elsewhere.

The next event in March will be another cooperation with the lovely story teller Sian Jones. This time the theme is Orpheus and Eurydice with wonderful Greek music and dances.

Workshops
Orpheus and Eurydice - Story-telling and Circle Dance

Saturday, 17th March 2012 from 1.45pm - 5.30pm
Venue: Heene Gallery (for details scroll down on this page)
Price: £15/conc. £12

For bookings or more information contact Karoline on 07940775961 or info@karoline-streicher.de.

To celebrate the first blossoms of spring we are inviting you on a mythical journey in the footsteps of the poet and singer Orpheus whose sweet voice makes even the trees and stars listen. We will hear his story of love and loss, song and sorrow and dance Greek circle dances to take us into Orpheus world for one afternoon. The dances are easy to learn, even if you have never danced before. And the combination of dance, music and story is truly magical.

Do you want to be the first to hear about any new workshops in Worthing? Send me an email to
info@karoline-streicher.de and I will put you on my list for updates.

Practical Information

Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes and light dance shoes that you are comfortable in. There are no changing rooms, but you can change in the toilets if you need to (a lot of people don’t).

Coffee and tea are included in the price of the event. If it is a whole day workshop, we usually have a shared lunch. Please, mark your items if they contain meat or nuts.

The venue is a lovely hall on Heene Road (corner to Shelley Road) in Worthing. It does get a bit cold in winter, so bring a warm item to wear for the breaks.

Parking is free on the smaller roads leading off Heene Road and on the west side of Heene Road itself as it is the boundary of the city centre.

If you are travelling from further afield: the sea is just a 5 minute walk away and worth a quick visit in any weather :).

Address: Heene Gallery, 106 Heene Road, Worthing, BN11 4PN

Circle Dance

Circle Dance uses folk dances and modern choreographies from a wide variety of cultures to dance as a group in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The circle supports the individual dancer and makes it easy to learn and enjoy the dances.
I warmly welcome people who have never danced before, Circle Dance is a good way to start if you enjoy moving to music, but have not dared to go out and dance.

About me

I have been dancing since I was a teenager and have done a teacher training course in Germany. Since then I have led workshops in different countries and teach both in German and in English (please, forgive me if I sometimes mix up the two!). Last year I led a weekly class in London and I am missing the continuity of it. But at the moment my day job only allows me the time for the occasional Saturday.

Links

Here are the links I found most helpful to get me started when I was looking for information on dance and dance classes/workshops in the UK. With time I am hoping to add more useful links.

www.circledancenetwork.org.uk
Good resource to find out about Circle Dance and other teachers in the UK, it has links (with photos) that guide you to their websites.

South East Circle Dance Group
The Circle Dance teachers in the South East of the UK have come together to create this website with all the local teachers and events in one place. It is lovely to dance with different teachers and experience all the flavours that Circle Dance can have.

www.sifd.org
Website of the society of international folk dance with classes and events and many links

www.andybettis.com This is the website of Andy Bettis with his workshop dates and loads of materials and background info about dances.

www.worthingwellbeing.com
This is the website of Sian Jones, the story-teller and psychotherapist who creates wonderful workshops with me combining stories with dance. Have a look what else she has to offer....
